Bryan Square
Located in historic Savannah, Ga, Bryan Square is a rejuvenated Square that serves as both an educational tool and a renewed public greenspace. The Square revitalizes the surrounding urban fabric, while demonstrating water efficient design principles that homeowners can use in their own front yards.
Drawing from the existing maritime theme of the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, the Square offers unique design techniques that not only extends this theme, but also creates a renewed sense of place for the surrounding facilities.
The principles of a water efficient landscape are highlighted by the curvilinear bed of shells with repeating "Pier Head" wooden posts. By using low maintenance, drought tolerant landscaping, the Square will endure through time and exist as something that the citizens of Savannah can be proud to call their own.
Bryan Square won 1st Place in the waterSmart Landscape Challenge in 2009. The Square was also awarded the Georgia Urban Forest Council Outstanding Streetscape Revitalization Award in 2009.
